NRA radio host Cam Edwards caught wind of HBO Real Sports host Bryant Gumbel’s comments in a Rolling Stone interview where Gumbel called NRA members “pigs” and a “curse upon the American landscape.”
Edwards didn’t find the comments particularly amusing, so he fired back at the HBO host in an interview with The Blaze:
“I have a sneaking suspicion Bryant Gumbel hasn’t spent much time around NRA members. I could introduce him to mothers and fathers, veterans and active duty members of the military, law enforcement officers, doctors, and paramedics I know who are proud members of the NRA,” he said.
Edwards was especially concerned with the part of Gumbel’s statement in which he declared that the NRA did not care about “human life,” to which he responded:
“The NRA members I know value human life enough to want to protect themselves and their families from those who would do them harm,” he shot back. “They’re not pigs. They’re good people.”
Along with Cam Edwards’ rebuttal, Gumbel received quite the backlash from Twitter users who were upset with the host’s language about the NRA and its members.
