News has spread this week about an unidentified delivery woman for Papa John’s who was making her rounds in a Georgia neighborhood on Sunday when a man approached her car with a gun to try and rob her.
What the man didn’t realize was that the woman was also carrying a handgun in her pocket when he pulled her out of the vehicle. But as soon as she was on the ground, the woman pulled the handgun from her pocket and shot the would-be robber in the face, killing him.
For days now, the woman has been afraid of losing her job due to a work policy which forbids the carrying of firearms by delivery personnel, even for personal defense.
However, the famed pizza company just announced that the woman would not be relieved of her position in this situation, according to a statement given to Fox News:
“The safety of Papa John’s employees is a top priority for our company.
Company policy prohibits employees from utilizing firearms in the performance of their duties. We plan no changes to our current policy, which is designed to protect customers and employees.
Upon investigation and considering the specific facts of the situation, we have reassigned the employee to work in the store and are offering her counseling to help her recuperate from the incident.”
“She had no other choice. She must have been in fear for her life and she reacted,” Capt. Stephen Fore with the DeKalb County Police Department told WSB-TV.
The woman is also not facing charges from authorities, after they determined that she acted completely out of self-defense.
