It seems to be a frequent occurrence in American politics to compare the politicians that you don’t agree with to the former German dictator, Adolf Hitler.
The comparison was made by detractors of President George W. Bush, both during and after his presidency, as well as against the current President. The question is whether this type of behavior is below the stature of a Congressman.
Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX.) didn’t seem to think so when he decided to make the comparison on his Twitter account, referencing Obama’s absence at the rally in Paris:

His tweet did not receive the warmest response.
@dumbiedikes @TXRandy14 Got his sense of history(and spelling) from a beer bottle.

Some called for his resignation over the tweet:
If you're just realizing that invoking Hitler causes upset, you progbably shouldn't be in elected office. Resign. @TXRandy14

One even looked forward to his apology:
.@TXRandy14 Thinking I should follow you just to see your apology for this. Your base will be so mad you spelled Adolf wrong.

Which the Congressman has now delivered.
I need to first apologize to all those offended by my tweet… http://t.co/ZQ612AtonU

Like others before it, this tweet will probably blow over. But what will become of the Congressman for this statement is yet to be seen.
